Hikes in Appiano on the Wine Road and cycling routes

Active around Hotel Steinegger

Anyone who knows Hotel Steinegger knows: you don’t have to go far to experience a lot — but if you feel like it, you can step straight out of the house into a landscape that has it all. Forests, paths, open views.

Hiking — step by step into happiness

Shoulder your backpack, open the door, set off — hiking on holiday can be that simple. Right on the doorstep, trails begin (to the Ice Holes and to Caldaro) leading through forests, vineyards and to historic castles (the castle hike to Appiano) — sometimes easy (to the Messner Mountain Museum Firmiano), sometimes with a bit more elevation (to the Penegal), but always with views that take your breath away. Once a week, your host Verena accompanies you personally. She knows every path in the area, the best spots for a break and where to find the finest views. Along the way, she shares stories you won’t find in any guidebook. And if you still feel like it afterwards, take a refreshing dip in the pool or relax your legs in the sauna.

Biking — two wheels, a thousand possibilities

Forest tracks and panoramic routes start right at the house — leading up to the Passo Mendola, across towards the Tonale area and back via Lana, or along the bends via San Genesio Atesino to Meltina, or onto the Renon plateau via Wangen and back through Sarentino, or across the Oltradige and down into the Valle dell’Adige. Whether you prefer a relaxed e-bike ride to the lakes, a sporty mountain bike tour or just a bit of fun — there’s a route here for everyone Bikes can be rented directly from us (on request, extra charge); secure storage and charging facilities are available in the garage. And if things get a bit dusty on your ride: there’s a fountain where you can easily rinse off your bike.

Out, up and into the fun
